Mini excerpt from “Undercover Alien” by Gerald Costlow:
~I came over and took a piece of pizza out of her mouth long enough to kiss her lips. “Gotta go, Doll. You‟ve been a big help. You get tired of playing with the cold stiffs some night, give me a call.”~
Mini excerpt from “Unknown Number” by Mark Allan Gunnells:
~“I get it,” Ethan said aloud, causing some of the other patrons to glance his way. “You can see me. Well, can you see this?” Ethan stuck up the middle finger of his right hand and waved it around in the direction of the street. A table of elderly women gave him dirty looks then turned back to their salads.~
Mini excerpt from “Virgin Blood” by K. Bruce Justice:
~“Hello Ian,” Sergeant Anderson said… “I called the coroner. What a God-awful mess.”
The girl was pretty. Her eyes were slightly closed, as if asleep rather than dead, and her lips were shut in a smile. Her striped blouse had been unbuttoned. Her skirt had been hiked up to her waist, and red panties dangled at the ankle of one outstretched leg.~
Mini excerpt from “The Vampyre‟s Crusade” by Douglas E. Wright:
~Dugan stood on his knees, scraping a wad of gum from under the customers’ side of the bar. His eyes rose and fell from the small LCD television hanging off the ceiling. “Suppose I could lock up for a couple nights. Sure as hell wouldn’t mind getting laid either. Even if it kills me.”
She eyed him up and down. “It just might.”~
Mini excerpt from “Station Six” by David Martinez:
~He squealed like a pig, scaring the living shit out of everyone at the library around him. Not only had he learned a new sound, he was super happy. She was interested. His girl was interested! And she wanted to meet. The time on the corner of the screen read 11:17.~
Mini excerpt from “Mary Tucker” by Terry Alexander:
~Ester shook her head. “Nobody ever proved she didn’t take that child, and you know there ain’t been any bears in this country for years.”
“Mary wasn’t even in these parts when the Wilson baby went missing.”
“I ain’t gonna argue about it anymore.” Ester licked her lips. “You know Mary Tucker took that child same as I do…”~
Mini excerpt from “Throwing Darts” by Gary J. Beharry:
~Charlie’s hand was firm against Mr. Denning’s door, yet he had only pushed it a little bit. C’mon, Charlie. At least do this. He squeezed his crotch again and felt the coolness of the gun through his pants. He took a deep breath and—his cellular phone rang.~
